Our Computing Curriculum

Our computing curriculum is designed to equip children with the knowledge, skills, and understanding they need to participate confidently and responsibly in a digital world. Our curriculum is based on the belief that computing is an essential part of modern life and that all children have the right to access a high-quality education in this area.

Our curriculum is built around the following key principles:

1. Developing digital literacy: Our curriculum provides opportunities for children to develop their understanding of how digital technologies work and to become confident and proficient users of these tools.
2. Building computational thinking: We aim to develop children’s problem-solving skills and their ability to think systematically and logically, both of which are essential for success in a digital world.
3. Fostering creativity: Our curriculum seeks to encourage children to use digital technologies to create, communicate, and express themselves in new and innovative ways.
4. Promoting safety and responsibility: Our curriculum provides children with the knowledge and skills they need to use digital technologies in a safe and responsible manner, and to understand the ethical implications of their online behaviour.
5. Connecting with the wider world: Our curriculum seeks to connect children with the wider digital world, and to provide them with opportunities to participate in coding clubs, workshops, and other events.

By the end of their primary school education, our children will have a deep understanding of the digital world and the skills they need to participate in it confidently and responsibly. They will be equipped to use digital technologies to create, communicate, and solve problems, and to appreciate the ethical implications of their online behaviour.
