School Lunches & Snacks

Our school lunches are prepared and cooked each day by our own kitchen staff.

  • Lunch time is 12 noon until 1.00 p.m.
  • All Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils are entitled to free schools meals funded by a government initiative (Universal Infant Free School Meals)
  • The cost for Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils is £2.50 per day/£12.50 per week - we have an online payment facility - please contact the School Office for details
  • Payment for all meals should be made in advance - payment for any meal not taken, due to absence, will be carried forward or refunded

Packed Lunches

Children are welcome to bring in their own packed lunches if they wish.  Children will still eat in the main hall alongside other children.

As a school, we endeavour to promote healthy eating and would encourage you to pack a healthy lunchbox. Please do not pack fizzy drinks or high sugar/caffeine based drinks such as Prime. Pack all foods in air tight containers.  Please ensure that you pack your own cutlery e.g. spoons for yogurts.  For safety reasons, no hot food in vacuum flask type containers is allowed.  The temperature of food in these containers cannot be regulated and hence may cause burns.

Water is available in the hall at all times.
Snacks

We encourage you to pack a healthy snack for your child to consume at breaktimes should they wish. We recommend just water or sugar-free squash in drink bottles.  As stated above, we highly discourage packing branded fizzy pop.

The school takes part in the government's National Fruit and Vegetables scheme, where each pupil in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive a piece of fruit or vegetable daily.

Did you know?

  • Families who are currently paying for school meals will save around £470 a year for each primary school child if they are entitled to free school meals.
  • Many schools have systems which mean it is impossible for other pupils to know who is receiving free school meals.
  • School children who are eligible for free school meals are entitled to a meal worth approximately £2.45 each day.
  • When you apply for free school meals, you will also allow your child's school to receive Pupil Premium, which is extra money to support children from families on lower incomes.
  • If your child is in receipt of universal infant free school meals (where your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2), we recommend you apply if you believe you may be eligible for free school meals, because the protection will continue beyond Year 2.
