History

Our History Curriculum

Through our history curriculum, we intend to provide children with a deep understanding of the past, and to develop their ability to think critically, analytically, and creatively about historical events, people, and issues, This will help them make informed decisions about the world around them.

To achieve this, we will:
  • Provide a chronological and thematic study of world history, focusing on key events, people, and ideas that have shaped the world as we know it.
  • Encourage children to think critically about historical sources and to develop their own historical arguments.
  • Develop children' skills in historical research, analysis, and interpretation, and to use a range of primary and secondary sources.
  • Promote a sense of curiosity about the past and to develop a sense of empathy towards people from different cultures and time periods.
  • Encourage children to understand the complexity of historical events and to appreciate the diversity of perspectives on historical issues.
  • Provide opportunities for children to explore the connections between historical events and the contemporary world.
  • Foster a love of history and to inspire children to become lifelong learners.
